EPM celebrates one year anniversary

It has been one year since EPM Composites Limited was formed. Our journey started on the 1 December 2017. The accomplishments we have made in year one of the business is down to the hard work and determination of our staff being spearheaded by Managing Director, Lee Hickling.

This last year has been spent building customer and supplier relationships, establishing ourselves within the composite industry and recruiting new member of staff.

Our capability to manufacture components for moving vehicles throughout the UK is a great achievement for our factory based in Derby. Since our inception our projects have afforded us to be involved in some of the UK’s most prestigious Automotive and Motorsport industry lead projects. These experiences collectively have contributed to our ever growing knowledge which we are able to offer our customers today.

Lee Hickling, Managing Director said “We have overcome a variety of challenges this year by my management team and staff have given 110% and I couldn’t be prouder of the success we have achieved as a business. With all that being said we are looking forward to celebrating another successful year in 2019.”

Professional MotorSport WorldExpo – 2018

The Professional MotorSport WorldExpo took place this year on 7 November – 9 November. It is a three day annual Motorsport exhibition tailored to Motorsport professionals hosted at Koln Messe in Germany.

Exhibitors were displaying the latest products and technologies across all aspects of motorsport: performance, race car equipment /accessories, testing and development, safety and more. The show also had a multitude of workshops for delegates to attend during the course of the event.

Matt Charlton, Head of Business Development commented on the event saying “This was my first time at the Professional MotorSport WorldExpo and although relatively small it provided a good opportunity to meet potential customers who may not always show up on our radar. Well worth the visit.”

Composites Europe – 2018

Composites Europe took place this year on 6 November – 8 November. It is a two day annual European trade fair and forums for composites, technologies and applications. Taking place in Stuttgart, Germany having 365 exhibitors from 30 nations, 8,148 visitors from 71 countries. This year the exhibition featured the matchmaking section a networking and meeting area for delegates.

Matt Charlton, Head of Business Development commented on the event saying “Although quieter than previous years Composites Europe still continues to attract a wide range of exhibitors, particularly with higher volume / automation applications in mind. As ever there was a strong presence from the European Automotive OEMs.”

The Advanced Engineering Show 2018

The Advanced Engineering Show is a two day exhibition and is the UK’s largest annual advanced manufacturing trade show based at the NEC, Birmingham, offering attendees and exhibitors the chance to network with other businesses within the manufacturing industry.

The team this year attended as delegates in order to view the new technologies and innovative products which are now available within the composite industry.

Matt Charlton, Head of Business Development commented on the event saying “As always it was really good to catch up with old and new contacts at the NEC, sharing updates on the growth of EPM and hearing about various success stories from other.”

EPM Composites Limited gains AS9100 Approval

EPM Composites Limited are pleased to announce that we have successfully passed our AS9100 audit for manufacturing and machining composite components for aerospace, defence and space industries. The Quality department have worked with BSi throughout the whole audit process which was conducted at the beginning of June 2018 and has only taken seven months to achieve this accreditation. The new Rev D Standard will also make the company continuously improve too.

Lee Hickling, Managing Director commented “The implementation of AS9100 into EPM will further enhance our quality processes and procedures. Enabling us to supply high quality components to our ever growing customer base.

UB Racing Visit

On 5 October 2018, part of the UB Racing team visited the factory to showcase their award winning car UBR21 to EPM staff. The team have been using a section of our Laminating department throughout 2018 to layup components for this year’s car.

Daniel Beswick, Laminating Manager at EPM Composites Limited commented “It has been really exciting to see the UB Racing Team develop their car this year, which was filled with new ideas and designs. The team were a pleasure to have on site, full of passion and enthusiasm. Myself and the team were happy to help them improve their laminating skills which on the whole they learnt very quickly. The way the entire car came together was very impressive. Myself and the Laminating department are looking forward to supporting the team on next year’s car”.

Nearly a year on at EPM Composites Limited

What an eleven months it has been, since December 2017 when EPM Composites Limited was registered and became part of a2e Industries, giving EPM the stability to make bold strategic decisions. The first of which was for the business to refocus mainly on Motorsport and Niche Vehicles.  Furthermore, EPMs core value was extended to providing honest communications to our customers and stakeholders. Accurate communications and direct market focus has turned out to be the key factors which has enabled the company to success.

EPM has seen strong growth in their customer base since the company registered. Having regained the trust of old and new customers by delivering exceptional quality components to customers on time.  There is now a strong and sustainable platform of Key Accounts to increase sales over the coming months and years.  The continuing support will allow the business to grow their management and business infrastructure as required in the future.

Lee Hickling, Managing Director said “I am very happy with how the company is moving forward and we as a team have delivered every promise we set out too at the beginning of the year. Communication has been a vital role for business growth which is a must within the composite industry.”
